Im writing this to learn about a block where we place one wrist over another like we do in a spot in kenpo in form 1 and probably other forms.
They say you can learn a lot by noting what happens spontaneously in the moment of.
Today I was cutting dead branches out of the pine tree and there was a long branch that was on the ground but too tangled to move out so I cut it in half. I had a very small rechargable chain saw that was small enough to use with one hand if needed. I cut that branch into 2 lengths that were then about 5 to 6 feet long. When I cut thru one of those branches fell toward me and I automatically raised both hands up as it is natural to protect the head. I remember having that conversation about a week ago. The branch was not all that large and if it had struck my head it would have resulted in a scrape and maybe bruise but nothing more threatening.
Anyway without thinking my automatic response was to raise hands over head and cross at wrists. I have no minor injuries. Im just wondering why I crossed the wrists, I havnt had that motion in a technique but I think some of you have. I know the advantage of that position is crossing hands results in a triangle shape.
Are there times when you would take that position as the first move like I did? What does it tell you that I crossed wrists to block instead of hands apart? I guess the disadvantage is then both hands are high. I don't know if thats a good or bad thing that my response was to block that way.
Anyway i learned from that, I know there will be a lot of upper belts reading this, I just wondered what those of you that are upper belts could add, thanks

Just like life, as we transform and ascend we have to become capable of handling each paxtial experience that will naturally come as a result of becoming capable

As this thought provoking and rather depressing sunday comes to an end I see the think thru process was a hard one over several months, I had a light bulb over the head moment today. As the voices in my head have kept saying all the efforts I did in paxtial and other stuff never did any good cause they can't. That there are no solutions and if there were i wouldn't be capable of carrying them out anyway, that all the time, money, and energy i have put into this has accomplished nothing. One of the ways these voices get into our heads is thru others and how we perceive ideas. There are adversarial forces that put people in our path who manipulate things and then guide us to think a certain way. It will espically happen here because we are trying to do good.
The light bulb over the head moment came when I asked, did I have any more answers before signing up for paxtial? Was i farther ahead in any way back then?what did i have figured out back then that made me more of a success? And how has paxtial taken me downhill? It's possible for choices to take people downhill but when I thought how was life better before paxtial or even martial, how was i better? That's when I realized I had very few answers back then, and guess what, life didnt look the best back then, I have a few answers now, so the idea that paxtial, you can apply this to other stuff too, has no answers, look at life before and life after and it is easy to see this is an empty argument. Look for this to happen because we are trying to do things right and there will always be resistance to it.

Soon after waking up this morning I was asking how can I explain why those of us who are in paxtial and martial arts are doing it. I don't really need an explination for myself but how do we explain it to others? Why do we not give up when we see a lot who do? there have been many I thought would continue but havn't. What keeps us paying for Paxtial and doing all these lessons, working at the physical aspects, and most of us are continuing with martial and we are working at that. What drives us to keep up with the paxtial, the martial, the tai chi, as well as all the stuff not martial arts related but we feel strongly the need to do as well? it's been my experience the world thinks we are doing it out of a love for, whatever it is, in this case martial and paxtial, since that's what we are talking about right now. We might have a love for it and find happiness in it alright but that is a shallow milk toast answer, it doesn't really answer it.
I've thought about it over the day and this is what I think, See if you agree and maybe you can add to this.
Most of us who do this have set the bar for ourselves pretty high. I believe many of us are in a situation where we know there were several things we were meant to do in this life. As such we are taking ownership of our lives to get there. Probably most of have had experiences that led us to martial arts then discovered paxtial which wasn't available till now. I think deep down we know that to be peacemaker, and many other roles this prepares us for we have to become that person, in other words transform. Everyday I pray I can transform. I think we realize to play this role and play it in up coming times it is going to be up to us to be the strength others don't have. In other words be the person we need to be. That's never easy. When we ask is it worth it? we keep coming up with yes, and that's the person who becomes blackbelt and gets 144 lessons in pax. It's all about becoming

I thought of this last night and went to put it on here but got busy with something else and soon forgot. Then the thought came back this morning, making me think maybe this is the time this concept was to come foreward.
For many years there has been a saying out there that went "live the kata"
What is your idea of what that means?
If we followed the council to live the kata we are learning what would that mean? I know in kenpo we don't use the word kata, we would say form. At least i havnt heard the word come up. Someone who has a background in other styles could probably explain better than I can. I understood a kata to be an exercise in motion going to 4, later 8 sides, what in kenpo we would call form 1 and form 2 then kicking set etc. Did I explain it right? So if this is the form, kata, how does that translate into life? How do we act in a way that someone with a trained eye would say that person really puts the form, kata into life?
In my case, and i don't work on forms as much as I should but I need to finish learning form 2 and when it comes to form 1 I am trying to do it smoother, without jerky motions. I'm slower than most but my goal is to go at a bit slower pace but not stop or slow down and be steady. Hopefully I can increase speed but not lose steadiness, sureness, gracefulness, etc. Tai chi and yoga have influenced me that way. So in my case how would the form influence me? By incorporating a slow yet steady approach I become learn forms but more important become someone known for being steady and firm.
How do you try to incorporate forms, katas into life?
If you come from a background other than kenpo, how have you incorporated what you learned there? It would espically be interesting to hear from those that came from other styles
How do you live the kata?

Last night sometime between wake and sleep, I think I had slept a few minutes minutes and almost woken up so I think about 1 o clock or so, but I was thinking why do we have paxtial arts? I thought of some things, and in that state of wakefulness the answer came in a flash. I thought that's it. I woke up the rest of the way, got up, went to the kitchen table and was going to write the answer I had. But a
Somewhere in waking up and getting there the answer I received in a flash had disappeared. I did write however, "why we have paxtial arts and not just ask those who are good at talking to people and experienced in conflict resolution to play that role. I'm looking at that paper now. Today, Saturday the 23rd, I've come up with several good answers like cause we need people with some actual martial arts training to be there to play that role. All those answers. But these are answers that true as they are, come from the company president side of the mind not the intuitive side.
There are a lot of people out there who are good at conflict resolution and a win win sollution. The first i can think of are mother's. Then I think of business owners who most of the time are pretty good but there are some who learn to mis use those abilities. Politicians think they are good at it. So there are those who genuinely are gifted in finding a win win.
Can we rely on them completely? I don't think so.
Now I have the task of trying to find the answer I had in a flash. Maybe the reason I was given the answer is so I would forget and write this post and having had a discussion among all who would take part the answer would be more heard since many had discussed it not one guy coming foreward with an answer. Answers tend to work like that. If several people are working on it the answer is more remembered and accepted. It's kind of like taking a written test and the questions we just write the answer are soon forgotten after the test is handed in but the ones we wonder if it is a trick that we have to really think thru, those are remembered longer. Maybe that's how it is here.
I'm going to have to find it again. I think the answer had to do with credibility and being followable.
What do the rest of you think? I know i need to keep paper by the bed.
Why is it desirable to have paxtial arts not just rely on those who are good at conflict resolution? When considering that, what does your company president side of your mind tell you verses what does your intuitive side tell you?
If several of you answer I think we will see examples of both answers. What do you think?

What laptops and phones are most of you using to write the posts and go the assignments starting with tyro that we are doing? What experiences have you had with them?
Im at a point where i need to decide if I am going to get an electronic tablet and if so what kind, cause I need to either cancel one of my numbers with Verizon or assign one of them to a device. I don't know if a tablet is even helpful for what we are doing. I could probably use wifi and not need a number. Apparently we don't need a microsoft compatable product for this, that is helpful to know.
What do those of you reading this use for pax and what do you think of the tablets you have used ?
I've been thinking of getting the remarkable but it's not a tablet for internet use, just a way to store writing electronic lyrics, which has its place but not useful for everything and the only thing it is really all that useful for is notes, which is needed up to a point.
Anyway what do the rest of you think of use of electronics in paxtial?

Not everyone will feel the need to heed the call
To be a warrior of light this is not known by all
Each and everyone of us are here to play a role
Both for those around us and to help our lives be full
If deep down you realize and the message is clear
That you are not a warrior, the call you do not hear
That is perfectly all right, the world has it's needs
Find a way to help with that and you'll surely succeed
Maybe instead of all that you feel you are called
To be the great teacher who is respected by all
Or the great entertainer, or whatever you will
All are free to choose the way of making life fulfilled
So if you look deep within enough that you can learn
All about your life's purpose and truth there to discern
You'll know if you're a warrior and if you should prepare
For a life of service as a warrior everywhere
And especially if your role is entering the fight
Preparing to take your place as a warrior of light
If deep down you realize this is the task for you
Just keep reading and see which of all these things ring true
Each person will know within if this will be their quest
The way will be challenging, each task will have a test
One of the first things to know when starting down this road
Is the conflict that's within can be a heavy load
Often warriors find that when they go throughout a day
Others follow closely feeling it's safer that way
Sometimes life can be a fight as life goes speeding by
There are some days you'll wonder if you should even try
Unknown disturbing voices from outside us they come
It's easy to figure out where these voices come from
This destabilizes us, causes anger and fear
Psychological warfare is what we're seeing here
All throughout the ages those who were warriors of light
Dealt with this warfare daily, as much as any fight
And if you think about it, this makes sense, seems to fit
Since warriors and rescuers will be the first ones hit
It also comes form people, the ones who are close by
Trying to divert us and causing us to not try
We all need some shielding, and we have learned to block
By utilizing angles throughout life's daily walk
How can this be accomplished? One answer is to read
Romans chapter thirteen and verse twelve will fill the need
One way we can do this is to every morning think
Of the light that is within and know there is a link
Between us and the one who is the source of all light
As well as all goodness and the source of all that's right
This is the place we should turn when that light has gone out
When the challenges add up and hope has turned to doubt
If that is where we're grounded, our future can look bright
As we try to play the role of a warrior of light

Are our assignment notes to go farther down under the category where it is like tyro?
